Speaker Bio
Bev is motivated by a personal drive to address barriers between people and the healthcare they need.

As CEO and Registrar of the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists (NSCP), Bev’s work focuses on ensuring the public receives optimal care from their community pharmacy. Bev is committed to continually striving for better, and she brings this to her role by leading a regulatory approach that fosters innovation, collaboration, engagement, and continuous improvement in pharmacy practice. In 2011, Bev led the development of the—first in Canada—pharmacy standards for mandatory error reporting and continuous quality improvement. Bev’s approach is anchored in collaboration, partnership and learning from others. In 2018 she established and hosted the Wicked Problems in Community Pharmacy Summit, a national forum for multi-stakeholder engagement on the sector’s most difficult issues, which has gone on to become a valued provincial collaborative forum in Nova Scotia.

Prior to joining the NSCP, Bev directed the provision of continuing education for pharmacists at Dalhousie University Division of Continuing Pharmacy Education. She was also a sessional lecturer and course coordinator at Dalhousie University College of Pharmacy where she co-led its Pharmacy Law and Healthcare Ethics course. Bev has practiced as a pharmacist in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Ontario, and operated a sole proprietorship, Atlantic Relief Pharmacist Services, through which she served as a relief pharmacist to cover vacations and temporary absences for pharmacies across Nova Scotia and in New Brunswick.

Bev is chair of the Nova Scotia Prescription Monitoring Board and is past chair of the Nova Scotia Regulated Health Professions Network. Bev is also a director on the board of the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities.

Bev obtained her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from Dalhousie University and as a life-long learner, has completed courses in the Master of Public Administration program at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Management as well as self-directed studies from other recognized executive leadership and governance programs.

Bev enjoys spending time with her husband and four adult children, and balances her passion for good food with running, stand-up paddle board, and biking.
