Robert Solek graduated from the pharmacy technician program at the Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology in Hamilton in 2003. After graduation, Robert spent four years as an in-patient pharmacy technician at St Joseph’s and later accepted a position at the University Health Network (UHN). Part of a nationwide clinical trial to evaluate two different treatments for Fabry disease, Robert was instrumental in consolidating study data and the occasional provisioning of medication to dispensing pharmacies. Robert went on to be the pharmacy purchaser for UHN, pharmacy auditor with Express Scripts Canada, and now is part of the Pharmacy Policy Development Division for the Non-Insured Health Benefits Directorate at Indigenous Services Canada.

Robert was part of the pioneer class to complete the requirements for pharmacy technician regulation in Ontario. He currently is the President of the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians (CAPT) and sits on the board of directors of PEBC. He is a strong supporter of the changing roles of both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the Canadian health-care system.

Mr. Solek volunteered at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games at the Whistler Polyclinic. He currently resides in the Montreal area with his wonderful wife, Cynthia.
